CONCORD, NH (January 24, 2025) – Today, the New Hampshire Insurance Department (NHID) is pleased to confirm the resolution of the contractual dispute between St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua and Anthem, New Hampshire’s largest health insurance carrier.
Insurance Commissioner DJ Bettencourt and senior NHID officials engaged intensively with leadership from both St. Joseph Hospital and Anthem over the past three weeks. By bringing critical data and insights to the discussions, the Department played a pivotal role in fostering clear communication and encouraging substantive progress.
“This resolution marks a significant victory for the patients of St. Joseph Hospital and the customers of Anthem,” said Insurance Commissioner DJ Bettencourt. “This outcome underscores the commitment of both parties to prioritize the needs of the community. The New Hampshire Insurance Department (NHID) is proud to have facilitated these discussions, leading to a resolution that benefits all stakeholders. While we have long valued our positive relationship with Anthem, we also appreciate the collaborative spirit of St. Joseph Hospital, despite not being one of our regulated entities. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved for their dedication and teamwork, which made this positive outcome possible. Together, we have taken a significant step forward for the community we serve.”
